More than 130 children from nine elementary schools from Tomaszów district took part in the finals of the EDPR Wind Cup which took place on Saturday 15 June. 

The winners in the IV-VI age category included students from the elementary school from Podhorce while a representative of the elementary school from Tyszowce was the best among students of forms VII-VIII elementary and III secondary.

Tyszowce, 15 June 2019:  15^th of June is celebrated all over the world as Wind Day during which the wind’s importance is emphasized as a source of clean energy. It is an excellent opportunity to learn about the benefits of the wind and have fun at the same time. This year, EDP Renewables invited inhabitants of Tomaszów Lubelski, Jarczów and Tyszowce municipalities to celebrate the Day together.

Children and adolescents tried their hand in the EDPR Wind Cup accompanied by sports emotions and fair play competition which accompanied each of the 12 matches. Teams from the elementary school in Podhorce and Tyszowce proved to be the best. Gabriel Jurkiewicz from the elementary school in Tyszowce made a name for himself as the Top Scorer. On the other hand, Szymon Taranowicz from the Tyszowce school was the most effective goalkeeper. As a ‘fair play team’ was awarded team from Jarczów. A special prize went also to: Wiktor Dźwierzyński (SP Podhorce), Błażej Sochan (SP Podhorce) and Wojeciech Sól (SP Tyszowce).

– Global Wind Day is a key event in EDP Renewables’ calendar as it allows us to showcase our commitment within the local communities where we are present. The EDPR Wind Cup is more of an example - said Joaquim Barbosa, Country manager EDP Renewables.

The audience supporting the young footballers could also make use of an animation zone for children; deckchairs were also provided for relaxation. The most avid football fans had an opportunity to watch a football trick show held by a football freestyler.

The event’s partners were Tyszowce, Tomaszów Lubelski and Jarczów municipalities.
