In the weeks following the agreements on the Iranian nuclear power which lifted some international sanctions, foreign investors have been showing interest in the 80-million person market and more specifically, in the sectors that have not been subject to sanctions, including Hotel and Leisure.

The Accor Group has been a Dentons Europe LLP client for more than 15 years and works very closely with the Firm, especially Partner Catherine Joffroy, in several countries across the globe. It was also with the Dentons Paris office’s assistance that Accor secured the strategic acquisition of Fastbooking. On 18th September, Accor has decided to call on the Dentons Europe team once again, including Partner Pirouzan Parvine, to advise on the opening of its first two hotels in Iran. This operation shows the first return of an international hotel operator to the country after 35 years.

On 15 September 2015, the hotel group signed two management contracts for the opening of two hotels in Teheran with the Iranian company Aria Ziggurat, which owns the two properties and is a branch of the Semega company, listed on the Teheran’s stock exchange. Through the development of these two projects, Accor will become the first Hotel Group to settle in Iran.

The Dentons Europe team specialized in Iran-related issues was composed of Partner Pirouzan Parvine, Counsel Jean-Charles Albitre and Senior Consultant Baki Maneche, all having extensive expertise in advising leading companies on issues related to Iran, including doing business in the areas that are not subject to sanctions.
